My teacher asked us to write down a word that relates to the first chapter. The word i chose was pain because this story makes you think about what this man has to go through if he wants to be apart of this society looking the way he does.
Take a moment and put yourself in your position. You would put your family through pain just because they have to live with the facts that this now is who you are. Not only that but now your an outcast just because of what you look like. Every time someone sees you now they will look at you like your a monster.

I like how you picked the word pain. That word didn't come up in our class and I thought of a lot of words put not that one either. So I would have to agree to you that it does relate well to the story. Because everyone is in some kind of pain. Like it pains his mother to look at him and that hurts him, because he doesn't want it to be that way.
