How it feels to be new me

We recently did an essay titled how it feels to be ____ me (fill the blank). Well I chose the theme of being new. I wrote about how sometimes we have made mistakes in our lives or where we were perfectly happy with our lives but even though we have those times you can still start over. I know because this is my 5th or 6th time moving. Each time you can start fresh with a clean slate. No matter what you've done this is your chance to make a new you. This is your chance to be who you really want to be.

Made Aware of Race/Nationality

When I was about 10 years old my family moved to england. I was excited because this was something completely new for me. School, for me, was always fun and was something to look forward to. What I wasn't expecting was what took place. I showed up for school on the first day expecting to be the "new student". But because I was an american I was rejected. Not because I was white or new but because of where I came from. Eventually I did make a few friends (who were also americans) but it was a very discouraging feeling to be completely reject at this age.

War

You can say anything in your life or in another persons life is a war. But is it really a war or a struggle. Just because something is hard it doesn't exactly constitute a war. I believe that a war is made of many struggles and that life should be the war we all face. I don't think that there should be many wars in our life time but many struggles to form one big war. Like so many wars they have ups and downs just like our lives.

Censorship

Yesterday we did a free write journal on a time when we were ever censored or when we were denied material. When I was in 7Th or 8Th grade when I wrote a paper for a composition class. In this paper I used a few words that were deemed unacceptable to use in school. After she was done grading the papers I had to re-write the paper. As for being denied material thing I was about 5 or 6 years old. I was a christian and I had received my first bible. well my dad ended up duck taping Revelations shut because he thought it was too scary for me at that age.

Motifs and My Interpretation

In the story metamorphosis one motif is the family as a unit. Towards the end of the book (more so in the last paragraph) they are talking about this newer smaller apartment on the outskirts of town. Well in our class we had a discussion whether it was right of Gregor's parents just to leave or not. Well in my point of view this is best for them. I think that the old apartment symbolizes Gregor himself. The transition in the end of the 2 apartments is like the family moving passed what happened with his transformation and death. It even says at the end the the daughter stretch her young body and I think that that symbolizes the family just having a load taken off of them.

Aliennation

It seems that all these stories that we read have a common element aliennation. I feel some of this in my own life. I just moved here and all I do is school or work. it just fells like I I'm so alone like time is just against me. Everythings a haze these days.

Metamorphosis

My teacher asked us to write down a word that relates to the first chapter. The word i chose was pain because this story makes you think about what this man has to go through if he wants to be apart of this society looking the way he does.

Take a moment and put yourself in your position. You would put your family through pain just because they have to live with the facts that this now is who you are. Not only that but now your an outcast just because of what you look like. Every time someone sees you now they will look at you like your a monster.
